MEDAN. (19/02) PT Pertamina (Persero) MOR I TBBM Medan Group bersama Rumah Zakat melaksanakan program Ecobrick di Lingkungan 24 dan 25 Kelurahan Pekan Labuhan Kecamatan Medan Labuhan.
Ecobrick merupakan bata yang terbuat dari botol plastik kemasan air mineral yang diisi limbah sampah plastik yang dipadatkan. Ecobrick ini merupakan salah satu upaya dalam aktivitas melestarikan lingkungan dengan mengurangi limbah sampah plastik. Selain itu ecobrick bertujuan untuk menjadikan limbah sampah plastik menjadi benda berdaya guna serta bernilai ekonomi.
“Program Ecobrick PT Pertamina (Persero) MOR I TBBM Medan Group dan Rumah Zakat pertama kali disosialisasikan pada bulan Juli 2018 kepada masyarakat Lingkungan 24 dan 25 Kelurahan Pekan Labuhan Kecamatan Medan Labuhan. Lokasi ini merupakan wilayah Ring 1 PT Pertamina (Persero) MOR I TBBM Medan Group. Program ini mendapatkan sambutan yang positif dari warga dan juga kepala lingkungan setempat,” ujar Rani Mayda selaku Project Coordinator Rumah Zakat.
Pada bulan Agustus 2018 kader Ecobrick sudah terbentuk sebanyak 10 orang. Kader ini mendapatkan pelatihan dari pengenalan ecobrick, cara membuat ecobrick, sampai pembuatan ecobrick menjadi produk yang bermanfaat seperti tempat duduk, vas bunga dan lain-lain.
Proses pembuatan ecobrick diawali dengan pengumpulan limbah botol plastik air mineral serta limbah plastik seperti limbah kemasan kopi sachet serta jajanan anak-anak.
Untuk mendapatkan limbah tersebut kader ecobrick bekerjasama dengan masyarakat serta warung-warung yang ada di sekitar lingkungan 24 dan 25 untuk tidak membuang limbah sampah plastik tersebut akan tetapi disimpan dan dikumpulkan ke lokasi pembuatan ecobrick.
Sampai saat ini program ecobrick telah mampu mengurangi sampah plastik sebanyak 189kg atau hampir 2 kuintal sampah dalam waktu 6 bulan di lingkungan 24 Pekan Labuhan.
Kini lokasi TPA yang biasanya digunakan warga untuk membuang semua jenis sampah, hanya digunakan untuk membuang sampah organik saja. Selain itu kini kader ecobrick sudah mampu memberikan penyuluhan mengenai ecobrick, salah satunya ke sekolah Aljamiatul Washliyah Pekan Labuhan. Saat ini sekolah tersebut sudah memiliki 1 kelompok kader cilik yang menjadi penggerak program ecobrick di sekolah.
“Program ecobrick akan terus berlanjut dengan salah satu target di tahun ini menjadikan lingkungan 24 menjadi Desa 1000 ecobrick” ujar Meyda.

Ecobrick is a brick made of plastic bottles of mineral water packed with solidified plastic waste. This Ecobrick is an effort to preserve the environment by reducing plastic waste. In addition, the ecobrick aims to make plastic waste into an efficient and economically valuable object.
“PT Pertamina (Persero) MOR I TBBM Medan Group Rumah Zakat Ecobrick Program was first socialized in July 2018 to the 24 and 25 Environmental communities of Pekan Labuhan, Medan Labuhan District. This location is the Ring 1 area of PT Pertamina (Persero) MOR I TBBM Medan Group. This program received a positive response from residents and also the head of the local environment, “said Rani Mayda as Project Coordinator of Rumah Zakat.
In August 2018 there were 10 Ecobrick cadres formed. This cadre received training from the introduction of the ecobrick, how to make an ecobrick, until making ecobrick became a useful product such as seating, flower vases and others.
The process of making ecobrick begins with the collection of plastic bottles of mineral water and plastic waste such as packaging waste of coffee sachets and snacks for children.
To get the waste, ecobrick cadres collaborate with the community and stall around neighborhoods 24 and 25 not to dispose of the plastic waste but stored and collected at the ecobrick manufacturing site.
Until now, the ecobrick program has been able to reduce 189kg of plastic waste or nearly 2 quintals of waste in 6 months in the 24 Labuhan environment.
Now the landfill site that is usually used by residents to dispose of all types of waste, is only used to dispose of organic waste. Besides that, now ecobrick cadres have been able to provide counseling on ecobrick, one of them being the Pekan Labuhan Aljamiatul Washliyah school. At present the school already has 1 group of young cadres who are driving the ecobrick program at school.
“The ecobrick program will continue with one of the targets this year to make the 24th neighborhoods become a 1000 ecobrick village,” Meyda said.
