Qurban is a servant’s approach to God. By slaughtering halal animals that are carried out according to Islamic law to achieve His blessing.
At this moment of Eid al-Adha, worship that is loved by Allah is Qurban. Although the law is sunnah but includes a reinforced sunnah. So we are expected to be able to always fulfill it.
Reward for people who carry out Qurban
Allah has promised some virtues for Muslims who perform qurbani worship; they will be forgiven of sin and guilt.
The Messenger of Allah said: “Verily these virtues can erase errors.”
Qurbani worship is a noble obedience, so if done sincerely to seek Allah’s blessing, then it could be a means of removing sin for those who carry it out.
Even the Messenger of Allah said to his daughter, Fatimah, ra. When he wanted to slaughter sacrificial animals:
“Fatimah, stand up and watch your slaughtered animal. Verily you are forgiven at the beginning of the drop of blood from the sins you committed. And read: Verily my prayer, my sacrifice, my life and my death are only for Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. “(Abu Daud and At-Tirmidhi)
Including the Practice that Becomes a Witness in the Hereafter
Every practice that we do will be accounted for on the day of reckoning. At that moment, our mouth can’t say anything. But we don’t need to worry our good will not be in vain.
There are several witnesses who will report on the deeds we have done in the world.
1. The earth we step on.
Even though the earth is an inanimate object that cannot speak but God chose it to be a witness.
Allah says: “On that day the earth will tell all the news”. (TQS Al Zalzalah: 4)
“Indeed what he preaches is all that servants do when they are still on the earth. Earth states, “He did this and that, today and that. That is what is meant by the news. “(Tirmidhi)
2. Charity Record Angels
Every time there are 2 angels who are always with us. They submit obediently to the command of His Rabb.
As in the word of God:
“In fact for you there are (angels) who supervise (your work). The noble one is with Allah and records (your works). They know what you are doing. “(TQS Infithar: 9-11)
3. Our Body Members
Body members who are always with us, they know what we do all the time until God chooses them to be witnesses.
God says:
“Their hearing, vision and skin bear witness to them about what they have done. And they said to their skin: Why are you a witness against us? “Their skin answered:” God who made all things clever said that he made us clever (also) say. ”
4. God is also a witness.
Even God is the one who is the Hearer, the Knower. He knows all movements and whatever His servants do.
God knows very well even though he is still in the heart, or even done in darkness, God knows all the deeds of His servants
5. Sacrificial animals.
The livestock that we sacrifice to look for Allah’s blessing will also be a witness for us.
From Aisha, the Messenger of Allah said:
“There is no practice from Adam’s grandchildren when Eid al-Adha is more loved by God than blood (slaughtering sacrificial animals), in fact on the Day of Resurrection the animals will come complete with horns, nails, and feathers. Surely the blood will come to Allah (as sacrifice) wherever the animal is slaughtered before the blood reaches the ground, then be sincere to slaughter it “(HR Ibn Majah and Tirmidhi).
Subhanallah, it’s really a good thing that is very dear if you just skip it. God prepared the best reward for the sacrifice we made sincerely because of God.
Brother, is there any objection to prioritizing this practice. The practice of qurbani is only done once a year. If we don’t take the opportunity now, it means we have to wait until the next month of Dhul-Hijjah.
Even though we have a lot of money and can buy a cow, if the moment isn’t right. For example, we are slaughtering outside of the day that Allah has given us, so the value is only ordinary alms.
Brother, let us ask Allah Almighty. Hopefully our hearts will be softened, so that there is sincerity in removing some of our assets to be able to sacrifice every year. As a form of our obedience to God who has given us abundant sustenance.
Hopefully the animals we sacrifice will give the best testimony for us and our families. That we have tried to sacrifice, to be given to other brothers who rarely eat meat, as a form of our concern, fellow servants of God. Aamiin.
