ECONOMY PROGRAM

In the economic sector, Rumah Zakat strives to implement programs aligned with the SDGs (1) No Poverty (Ending poverty in all its forms everywhere); (2) Zero Hunger (Ending hunger, achieving food security and improved nutrition, and promoting sustainable agriculture); and (8) Decent Work and Economic Growth (Promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth, productive employment, and decent work for all).

The problems that Rumah Zakat intervenes in the economic sector are Access of the lowest pyramid (40% of the poorest community) to financial institutions, Production skills of micro & small business actors, Access of micro & small business actors to capital, Regeneration of professions in the agro sector (farmers/breeders /fishermen) as well as domestic/rural based tourism.

Bummas is an economic empowerment program based on group dynamics and involves initiating and designing institutional frameworks (Social Enterprise) to strengthen community economies and serve as the backbone for the sustainability of the Empowered Village program.

The goal of this program is to establish institutional frameworks and the creation of group-run businesses that lead to the development of social enterprises and the independence of Desa Berdaya (Empowered Village). There are two types of Bummas implemented in Desa Berdaya: Bummas Agrobusiness & Microbusiness, and Bummas Microfinance.

This program is implemented through providing business capital assistance and supporting Bummas activities with monitoring, evaluation, and consultation. Currently, Rumah Zakat has 253 Bummas in Desa Berdaya that have benefited 3,070 people through various business units.

AGROBUSINESS & MICROBUSINESS

A group-based economic empowerment program that involves initiating and designing institutional frameworks (Social Enterprise) to strengthen community economies in the fields of agribusiness (agriculture/livestock) and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

The goal of this program is to establish institutional frameworks and create group-run businesses that lead to the development of social enterprises and the independence of Empowered Village.

This program is implemented through providing business capital assistance and supporting BUMMAS activities with monitoring, evaluation, and consultation.

MICROFINANCE

The BUMMas (Community-Owned Business Entity) program is based on community economic empowerment by providing revolving capital assistance along with support for business development and financial record-keeping.

This program is implemented through managerial support and financial record-keeping, entrepreneurship education, distribution of business capital, and provision of business support assistance.

EMPOWERED FARMERS

A local potential-based economic empowerment program targeting individual micro and small business entrepreneurs (Social Entrepreneurship), particularly those in the agro sector.

The goal of this program is to improve the economy of entrepreneurs in Desa Berdaya (Empowered Village).

This program will be implemented through the provision of capital for seeds or seedlings, fertilizer or feed assistance, legal advocacy and product strengthening, business support, and entrepreneurship education assistance.

MICRO ENTREPRENEURSHIP ASSISTANCE

A local potential-based economic empowerment program targeting individual micro and small business entrepreneurs (Social Entrepreneurship) in non-agro sectors.

The goal of this program is to improve the economy of entrepreneurs in Desa Berdaya (Empowered Village).

This program will be implemented through business support, entrepreneurship education assistance, capital support, provision of business facilities, legal advocacy, and product strengthening.
