BANDUNG – University.
Telkom through the Directorate of Research and Community Service
implemented an innovative program “Accelerating the Zero Plastic Waste Movement to
Achieve SDG Target 11.6 in Cipaganti Village, Bandung City.”
This program is led by Dr. Ir. Ratna Lindawati Lubis,
M.M., an active lecturer in the Master of Management Study Program, Faculty of Economics and
Business (FEB), in collaboration with the 29th Regular MM Management
Master students and teaching assistant Muhammad Farhan Ramadhan.
This program introduces the prototype of the “Ecobrick Cube” or “E-CUBE” chair made from
ecobrick plastic waste in 600 ml mineral water bottles.
This chair contains 16 ecobrick bottles with a volume of 250 gr of plastic in each ecobrick bottle.
The 30 cm cube chair wrapped in the SDGs logo not only functions as a seat, but also as an
educational prop to introduce the concept of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to PAUD and TK students.
This program is supported by the Coblong District of Bandung City,
Rumah Zakat, Twin Tulipware, and the Bdg 022 Community through an innovative
and participatory approach based on “E-CUBE,” which is an acronym
for “Education, Collaboration, Utilization, Behavior, and Evaluation.”
According to Dr. Ratna Lindawati Lubis, M.M., who is also the Chairperson
of the Love Cikapundung Community Movement (Gemricik) since 2015,
this “E-CUBE” based approach invites all parties to continue to innovate and participate
in increasing real action on the importance of managing plastic waste into useful items.
This program is implemented in the academic calendar of Even Semester 2023-2024
with various mentoring and discussions held every month.
“This initiative reflects the strong synergy of PENTAHELIX
ABCGM (Academia, Business, Community, Government, Media) in an effort to contribute
to the achievement of Sustainable Development targets, especially Target 11.6 related
to urban waste management,” said Dr. Ir. Ratna Lindawati Lubis, M.M.
Rumah Zakat as a collaborative partner strongly supports this
movement because it is in line with Rumah Zakat programs which
are also related to contributions to Sustainable Development targets.
“Hopefully with this collaboration we can create a greener environment by managing city waste
into more useful items,” said Encang Sukirman, Area Manager of Rumah Zakat West Java.
